Collection Overview Collection contains photocopies, typescripts, handwritten notes and tape recordings compiled by Skardon as research undertaken to prepare a history of the College of Charleston from 1785 to 1985. It is incomplete and is primarily concerned with the period from 1935 to 1970. The history prior to 1935 was to be based largely on J.H. Collection consists of two indexed ledgers (1905-1908; 1909-1910) containing accounts with numerous businesses, organizations, and individuals for construction and general contracting. Accounts represent many notable buildings of Charleston, South Carolina, among them the Confederate Home and College, the Medical University of South Carolina, St. Andrew's Lutheran Church, St. Philip's Church, and a number of architecturally significant houses.
